5 reasons you should do something new today
Every time I do something new my life changes. Even if it’s so minor as playing a new game, meeting a new person, reading an inspiring novel or learning a new recipe. (1) The perspective gets broader. It’s like an optical zoom that goes down to fisheye. A new perspective for everything you do.
You can plan really well. You can actually plan so well that you don’t have to think for the next five years. (2) But a new thing will open more doors. Read a philosophical/religious novel for a first time? Or learned something about afghan culture you didn’t know? New questions start emerging immediately.

(3) The brain gets some exercise. It’s like a car, you need to gun it every now and then or it will get bored. Like leather, if you just leave it be it’ll start drying out. And not only that but (4) you’ll get excited about life again. It’s full of surprises and ideas.
(5) The more you do you the more you want to do. An active mind in an active body needs upkeep. And that upkeep is more new ideas, more new activities, more new thoughts.
What’s the last time you did something new?
